One of the main and interesting areas of human activity is fundamental scientific activity, which leads his consciousness from darkness to light and defines it as a unique phenomenon of an infinite universe. But these properties are formed not so simply, but by hard work, through hardships, falls and ups, as well as perseverance and a continuous search for scientific truths. Outstanding personalities who choose these continuous trials, and the valiant path of life, like priceless pearls, become the main source of science and the intellectual light of society. But when, by the will of human fate, such individuals pass away from life, it becomes a great loss and pain, especially for the family, relatives, and the entire scientific community.
We are deeply sorry to inform you that on January 12, 2020, at the age of 84, the outstanding Tajik scientist, academician Rakhim Marupov, died. The team of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, including scientists and employees of the S.U.Umarov Physical-Technical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan express deep condolences to the family and relatives of the esteemed academician.
Rakhim Marupov – a famous scientist in the field of spectroscopy of macromolecular compounds, Doctor of Technical Sciences (1984), Professor (1990), Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan (1997), Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the Republic of Tajikistan (1994), Laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Tajikistan named after Abuali Ibni Sino in the field of science and technology (2003), holder of the Order of Friendship (Dustlik) (2018) and Honorary Director of the S.U.Umarov Physical-Technical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan until the last days of his life, conducted active research work in the laboratory of molecular spectroscopy of the Institute, transferring his knowledge and experience to young scientists.
From the first days of the creation of the S.U.Umarov Physical-Technical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan in 1964, Rakhim Marupov, as a young promising scientist, devoted more than 55 years of his future fruitful life to the fundamental scientific research of the Institute. Rakhim Marupov by gradually and persistently solving the scientific problems posed, at the age of 28 he successfully defended his thesis on “Investigations of the infrared spectra of cellulose and new types of its derivatives” (1964). Thanks to deep scientific knowledge, combined with the talent of an effective organizer, Rakhim Marupov, starting with the duties of a junior research fellow (1964–1965), he is gradually assigned the duties of deputy director (1966–1986), acting director (1991–1993), as well as directors of the institute (1994–1999) who were successfully performed.
The fundamental research of academician Rakhim Marupov, especially in the field of molecular spectroscopy, polymer physics, molecular physics and physical chemistry, has significantly updated scientific theories with new data and research directions. Academician Rakhim Marupov, as a strict and fair scientific supervisor, has also made a huge contribution to the preparation of a new generation of scientists of the country – highly qualified personnel in the field of physical and technical sciences. The bright memory of the esteemed academician Rakhim Marupov will forever remain in the memory of the scientific community, scientists, friends, employees and students – as a symbol of devotion and masculinity in the valiant path of scientific knowledge.
