On October 10, 2025, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Current Issues in Physics and Engineering” was held at the S.U. Umarov Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. The conference brought together scientists and researchers from foreign countries, as well as from scientific institutions of the National Academy of Sciences, universities, and research centers of the republic.
Among the distinguished guests of the conference were renowned scientists, including Professor Kholmurodov Kholmirzo Tagoykulovich from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna, Russia), Professor Takovitsky Sergey Alexandrovich from the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky (Russian Federation), and Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Mukhtorov Odil Fozilovich from the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Their participation added new dynamism and depth to the scientific discussions and international standing of the conference.
The S.U. Umarov Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan annually holds international conferences of this level, aimed at strengthening scientific cooperation, exchanging experience, and expanding ties among research institutions of different countries. Within the framework of such cooperation, new directions of scientific research are being formed, creating a solid foundation for the development of fundamental and applied studies in the fields of physics, engineering, and modern technologies.
It should be noted that since its establishment, the S.U. Umarov Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan has become one of the leading research centers in the country. The institute serves not only as an important base for training highly qualified specialists for universities and research institutions of the republic but also as a center for developing new scientific directions and applying technical achievements in various sectors of the national economy.
The institute conducts research in the fields of nuclear and radiation physics, solid-state physics, acoustics, optics, materials science, and thermophysics. The results of these studies are applied in energy, construction, medicine, and environmental monitoring.
The institute pays special attention to fundamental research, since without its development, sustainable progress in applied sciences is impossible. It is precisely on this foundation that new technologies, improved energy systems, modern materials, and measurement methods that meet international standards are developed.
In recent years, through the initiative and support of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, the spheres of science and education have been designated as priority areas of state policy. The Leader of the Nation has repeatedly emphasized: “The future of Tajikistan depends on the level of knowledge, professionalism, and scientific potential of its citizens.”
These wise words serve as a guiding principle for the entire scientific system of the country, inspiring researchers to strengthen innovation infrastructure, modernize research centers, and develop human resources.
Within the framework of the State Program for the Development of Science for 2021–2030, the S.U. Umarov Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan directs its activities toward strengthening international cooperation, sharing experience, engaging young people in scientific work, and addressing global challenges of the modern era.
