The “Pamir experiment” and the process of training scientific personnel for the study of high-energy cosmic rays

The high mountains of the Pamirs have been attracting the attention of scientists with their unique astroclimate since the 30s of the last century, as a natural laboratory for studying ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays. From the point of view of researchers of elementary particles, the Pamir astroclimate provides one of the rarest opportunities for studying the fundamental properties of nature. Recall that at the end of the 1980s, at the stations of the high mountains of the Pamir, a particle flux with an extremely high energy at the level of 10 (18) eV was recorded, which is considered the highest interaction energy of particles recorded using X-ray emulsion chambers.

With the aim of a complete revival of scientific and practical work and research in this area, the S.U.Umarov Physical–Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, step by step, appropriate measures are being taken. Among other things, one of the most important issues is the training of young domestic personnel and the corresponding scientific school, which have the potential to update this area using modern technologies.

So, on July 6, 2023, one of the young scientists of the Institute, a researcher at the International Center for Nuclear Physics Research Rizoi Bakhromzod successfully defended his dissertation on the topic “Development of methods for the selection of super high energy gamma-showers using the date of Cherenkov detectors of high mountain set-up” under the scientific supervision of Professor of the Department of Space Physics, Faculty of Physics, Lomonosov Moscow State University – Galkin Vladimir Igorevich.

The administration and staff of the S.U.Umarov PhTI of the NAST congratulate the young scientist R.Bakhromzod and his supervisor Professor V.I.Galkin on the successful completion of one of the stages of joint scientific activity and wish them success in their research.

The staff of the Institute strive to increase the competitiveness of national scientific schools through the correct and scientific organization of activities, the development and implementation of modern innovations, the training of competent and responsible scientific personnel, in order to achieve the strategic goals of ensuring the stable development of the country’s industry and economy.
